Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for Next-Gen Performance
Qualcomm has introduced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, promising a 31% boost in CPU performance and a 49% improvement in GPU power compared to its predecessor. This chipset, built on TSMC’s 4nm process, supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, on-device AI capabilities, and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Unlike the Snapdragon 8 Elite, this chip features Arm reference cores instead of Qualcomm’s custom Oryon cores.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Availability
iQOO has confirmed that the upcoming Z10 Turbo will feature this processor. Meizu, Oppo, and Xiaomi are also expected to launch smartphones with this chip in the coming months. Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 will power gaming smartphones that offer high performance at a lower price than flagship devices with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.
Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Specifications
Unlike its flagship counterpart, which is based on TSMC’s 3nm process, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is built on a 4nm process. It includes:
- CPU Configuration: 1x Cortex-X4 (3.2GHz), 3x Cortex-A720 (3.0GHz), 2x Cortex-A720 (2.8GHz), and 2x Cortex-A720 (2.0GHz).
- Memory & Storage: Supports up to 24GB LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
- GPU Performance: Features Adreno 825 GPU, offering a 49% performance boost over the previous generation.
